Protocol Engineer - Untrusted Operator Support

Full-time/Remote/North American time-zone

About Here Not There

Here Not There Labs is building River, a fully decentralized protocol for online communities backed by the world's leading web3 investors: A16Z, Framework Ventures & Benchmark Capital.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Protocol Engineer to spearhead our efforts in implementing untrusted operator support, a critical step towards full decentralization of our network. This role is pivotal in allowing anyone to participate and run a node in the River Protocol, making our network truly decentralized.

The project is currently in the design phase and requires implementation of key features including validation, slashing mechanisms, and a scrubber for expired permissions. This role is ideal for a developer with a strong background in distributed systems and blockchain technologies, who is excited about pushing the boundaries of decentralized networks.

About the Team

We are a small group of world-class engineers and product people who believe in framework-driven value creation through open and direct communication. We are thoughtful, self-aware, and not afraid to help each other improve. As a remote-first team, we value an environment where respect, trust, and transparency allow each of us to stay present and focused on our work. We are remotely distributed but work and meet during North American time-zone hours.
