ChatWallette is a side project by Here Not There Labs. Use at your own risk. The app pairs you with another person to talk one-on-one based on your wallet’s holdings. Other users will see which NFT’s and tokens you share in common.
- How do I get matched with other users?
- The matching is based on shared wallet contents, ranking for the highest overlap of NFT’s and ERC-20’s.
- Do I need to enable microphone and camera access?
- You’ll only need to enable access in order to have video call and you’ll only be asked to do so once you’ve initiated a video call.
- How do I login?
- You need a crypto wallet in order to use ChatWallette.
- Is ChatWallette safe?
- TL;DR - Yes, ChatWallette was designed and built with users security as a priority
- ChatWallette uses only the wallet address and associated NFT holdings to facilitate matching users.
- The ChatWallette service has no access to the information shared between users.
- Each ChatWallette session is protected by a strong public keypair. All signaling traffic is encrypted end-to-end between matched users. Key exchange happens via ECDH with the P-384 named curve, and signaling messages are then encrypted via AES-GCM with a 256 bit key.
- The ChatWallette client verifies the other participants are who they are via strong Web3 message signature verification. This is done in the client instead of trusting the ChatWallette service.
- Audio, Video and Chat traffic is sent directly between peers, using strongly encrypted WebRTC connections.
- Chat messages are only decrypted in the client and only retained for the during of a conversation. Chat messages are never sent to, or through, ChatWallette servers. No data is retained in the client across chat sessions.
- If you have further questions you can review the client and service code at https://github.com/HereNotThere/chatwallette, comments, questions, and improvements are welcome.
